On example:

$language = "pt_BR";

$translator = new Zend_Translate( array( 'adapter' => 'array', 'content' => '/MYFOLDER/resources/languages', 'locale' => $language, 'scan' => Zend_Translate::LOCALE_DIRECTORY ) ); Zend_Validate_Abstract::setDefaultTranslator($translator);

When I validate the error message is returned from another locale.

This issue is already fixed by commit r24268
